The Milk Truck

Tver, 30th December 2016. People are lining in the street just under my apartment building to fill their own bottles with milk from the milk truck.

I take the picture, go back home and upload it via a 100 megabit internet connection. This is just one of the endless examples of how past and future coexist seamlessly in this country and of how every once in a while Russia rewards you with an image straight out of my stereotypical memories of the USSR.

Milk trucks are actually still pretty popular today, especially outside the largest cities because people can get fresh, rich, unpasteurised milk directly from the farmers. As a side note, the fact that every person comes with his/her own bottle(s) for the milk also contributes to reduce pollution and waste of plastic bottles.
